What is THCa?
THCa, or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is one of 120+ naturally occurring cannabinoids produced by the cannabis, or hemp, plant. It is the precursor to the well known tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THCa differs from other cannabinoids due to the need for decarboxylation. This is a heating process (smoking or vaping) that converts THCa into Delta 9 THC and creates a psychoactive effect. This requires smoking or vaping THCa. As a result, when THCa is ingested without heating it will not create any euphoric effects. Delta 9 interacts with the CB1 and CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system similarly to other cannabinoids like Delta 8 THC, Delta 10 THC, HHC, THCP, and THCB, to produce an uplifting, euphoric effect with increased focus and energy.
